The first film of GFS Summer Flicks, GODLAND, will be screened at 8pm on Sunday, April 9th. Unfortunately, due to Easter, the Monday evening repeat screening will not be possible for GODLAND.
In the late 19th century, young Danish Lutheran priest Lucas travels to a remote part of Iceland to build a church and photograph its people. But the deeper he goes into the unforgiving landscape, the more he strays from his purpose, the mission and morality.
This third feature from Icelandic director Hlynur Pálmason (A White, White Day) is his most ambitious yet. Shot in square aspect ratio, capturing at once the spectacular beauty and austerity of the landscape, GODLAND is a breathtaking historical epic that needs to be seen on a cinema screen.
In Danish, Icelandic with English subtitles.
GFS patrons will be able to avail of the reduced price ticket for GFS Summer Flicks’ individual screenings (€8 as opposed to €12). Please be advised that these tickets can only be bought in person at the box office at Pálás.
