Galway Film Society is excited to announce its return to Pálás for its Spring 2024 Season. 2024 is a very special year for Galway Film Society, as it marks the society’s 60th anniversary. The Spring 2024 season, which starts this Sunday January 21st and Monday January 22nd, will present 8 films, representing a range of new critically acclaimed and award-winning titles from around the world. The new season will kick off with screenings of the charming Diary of a Fleeting Affair, which draws on the best of traditional French romantic drama to deliver a delicate, witty and intelligent exploration of a modern love affair during middle age. Other highlights include Tótem, Mexican director Lila Aviles’ highly-anticipated follow-up to the hugely successful The Chambermaid; foodies won’t want to miss the exquisite The Taste of Things, a culinary and romantic delight starring Juliette Binoche and Benoit Magimel; and Irish directors Garry Keane and Stephen Gerard Kelly follow-up their acclaimed 2019 documentary Gazawith the extraordinary In The Shadow of Beirut – Ireland’s submission to the 2024 Oscars. This season GFS is excited to team up with the Dublin International Film Festival (DIFF) to allow Galway audiences to experience some of this year’s DIFF programme as part of the DIFF 2024 Tour. This includes two highlights from DIFF’s feature line-up – the genre-bending Nigerian fable Mami Wata and heart-warming French film Toni. GFS is dedicated to the promotion of short films, so is delighted to also bring a special Short Film Programme to Galway audiences as part of the DIFF 2024 Tour.
